You don’t have to be subscribed to Amazon Prime to get the previous-generation Kindle Oasis for $199.99.
Prime Day 2019 starts on Monday, July 15, and most users assume that all most interesting deals would be available only for Prime members.
The fact is that deals for regular users are available as usual, and you can have a quick look at them in the Amazon Gold Box deal directory.
One if these regular deals is much more attractive than others. You can get the Oasis 2 for $199.99 instead of $249.99 – for the version with 8 GB of internal storage and special offers.
As you know, top Kindle e-readers are rarely offered at reduced prices. Since the launch of the 1st-generation Oasis in April 2016, the most advanced Kindle was on sale only once, during Prime Day 2017 – and only its most expensive version, the one with cellular connectivity.
Currently, the conditions are exceptional, and it made Amazon decide to slash the price of the previous-generation model.
First, the newest 3rd-generation Kindle Oasis – although announced a month ago – will start shipping on July 24. Some users have switched their interest from Oasis 2 to Oasis 3 and have already pre-ordered the latter model.
At the same time, the Oasis 2 is still on stock. Unlike other Kindle models which were being removed from the offer the moment the newer generation was announced, the 2nd-generation Oasis is still available in the official Amazon Devices directory.
Amazon must have quite large stocks of the older model if the company decided to reduce its price by 20%. It already happened a few weeks ago, for Father’s Day 2019. The model is still on stock, and the price is still set at $199.99.
The 2nd-generation Oasis is the first waterproof Kindle. It meets the IPX8 water resistance rating, and it means you can put it two meters under water for one hour without causing any damage.
It’s also the first one to offer built-in Audible support. Its 7-inch display has an increased resolution of 1680 × 1264 pixels and 300 ppi density. A unique feature – asymmetric design – is intended to shift the center of gravity to one side for easier one-handed use.
Just like other Kindle models, the Oasis 2 comes with an option to get the 3-month Kindle Unlimited plan free of charge (almost $30 of savings).
Compared to Kindle Oasis 2, the 2019 model offers an adjustable warm light, allowing you to change the color temperature of the display. It’s the only major difference between the new and previous model.
It’s probably the last chance to get the Oasis 2 for under $200. It will be available while stocks last, so if you want to make sure you get it, you’d better hurry up.
Last but not least, unlike other Kindle models, the Oasis 2 deal is available for all Amazon customers, not only Prime members.
