We’ve tracked price cuts on Kindle and Fire devices during previous shopping events to come up with the most accurate price predictions.
Prime Day 2019 will most probably start on Monday, July 15, and continue until the end of the following Tuesday, July 16.
Many Amazon customers were not lured by “early Prime Day deals” and they were right. The best way to save as much as possible is to wait until real Prime Day 2019 deals become active.
Getting an idea of what prices you can expect is something you should do long before Prime Day. If you leave all decisions for the big day, you may end up purchasing products you won’t need at all.

Instead of buying on Prime Day what everyone else is buying, make a list of products that you will need in the upcoming months, and buy only the products from that list.
If you buy three or four products on Prime Day that will save you more money than the cost of the next annual Prime subscription, you can say that you have succeeded.
Prime Day 2019 – Kindle price watch & predictions
After analyzing price drops for Prime Day versus Black Friday, we can say that deals on Kindle e-readers are higher for Prime members in July.
Basic Kindle
The newest entry-level Kindle was introduced in April 2019. The biggest improvement is a front-lighted display. Four LED lamps embedded around the screen spread an even light letting you read in the dark without the need to use an external light.
This feature alone makes the price of the newest Kindle go up by $10, to $89.99, compared to the previous-generation model.
Let’s first look at the prices of the previous-generation Kindle (Kindle 8 launched in July 2016):

As you see, the price strategy of the previous-generation Kindle was predictable. What can we expect when it comes to the 2019 model?
The newest Kindle was already on sale twice:

- Father’s Day 2019 – $69.99, $20 off, you save 23%
As I mentioned already, price cuts on the Kindle models are higher than during the preceding Black Friday shopping event. That’s why I believe the price should reach the new low.

Kindle Paperwhite
The 4th-generation Kindle Paperwhite was launched on November 7, 2018. Just like in the case of the basic Kindle, its regular price – $129.99 – was higher by $10 compared to the previous-generation model.
It creates different expectations towards price deals, as the reference is not clear. Another thing to take into consideration is that the price of the newest model was not reduced for Black Friday 2018.
So far, we’ve seen the following deals for Kindle Paperwhite 4:

- Mother’s Day 2019 – $89.99, $40 off, you save 31%

Kindle Oasis
High-end Kindle models, Oasis and – now discontinued – Voyage, were rarely featured in Amazon’s price deals.
In the entire history of Prime Day and Black Friday, the Oasis was offered for a reduced price only once. It happened in 2017, and it applied only to the most expensive version with cellular connectivity. The deal was symbolic – 14% off the list price.

The good news is that everything has changed before Father’s Day 2019. Amazon decided to slash the price of Kindle Oasis by as much as $50! For the first time this top-shelf e-reader was offered for only $199.99.

Prime Day 2019 – Amazon Fire price watch & predictions
Amazon Fire 7
The newest 7-inch Amazon Fire was released on June 6, 2019. It features twice the storage (16 or 32 GB), faster processor, and hands-free Alexa.
However, the new tablet keeps a 4-year-old IPS display, which is not impressive. Also, the old quad-core 1.3 GHz processor is used. The list price is the same as its predecessor: $49.99.

Amazon Fire HD 8
Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet is was released in October 2018. It’s the most reasonable pick in the Fire range. Its 8-inch HD display, with a resolution of 1280 × 800 and 189 ppi pixel density is large and crisp enough to watch Prime Video movies for hours.
At the same time, the latest-generation Fire HD 8 is now capable of handling 400 GB microSD cards, and is ready for hands-free Alexa.

Amazon Fire HD 10
Amazon Fire HD 10 is the biggest tablet in Amazon’s Fire range. It was introduced in October 2017, so this fall it will be already two years old.
The tablet offers a widescreen 1080p Full HD display (1920 × 1200 px, 224 ppi). Therefore, it can become a powerful entertainment machine for the entire family.
Let’s see what prices were offered during previous shopping events:

Based on this history, we could predict that the price should go further down, to $89.99. On the other hand, the deal offered for Mother’s Day ($40 off, to $119.99) suggests Amazon wants to keep the deal price to be no lower than 30-35%.
